Centre Todd Harkins spent parts of three years in the NHL during the early 90s. He was best known as a decent goal scorer and tough foe in the corners in college, the minors and Europe.
The native of Cleveland, Ohio was selected 42nd overall by the Calgary
Flames in 1988 while he was in the midst of a fine three year college career at Miami of Ohio. He impressed with 42 points as a rookie pro with the IHL's Salt Lake Golden Eagles in 1980-81. He was a solid farmhand for two more years and was recalled twice by Calgary.
Harkins was traded to the Hartford Whalers in January, 1994. He spent the last half of the season in the NHL. He represented the United States in the 1995 World Championships. Prior to the 1997-98 season he sought a change of scenery by signing with the German club EG Dusseldorfer.
